A Day in The Life with Music on The Move Co-Founder: Erin McLendon

Hello & Hi!

My name is Erin McLendon (Phillips, officially 💍) and I’m the owner and co-founder of Music on The Move Studios! I am also a country singer/songwriter, a vocal coach, and cat mom to Music on The Move Studio’s Head of HR, Wally.

Even though my day to day is ever-changing, I wanted to bring you along for what a “normal” day looks like for me!

As a full-time musician, my schedule doesn’t look like your “average” 9-5 situation, especially since I work from home (which I am very grateful for!) For example, I don’t really start my “work” day until about 10 or 11 in the morning because most of my lessons start in the afternoon.

Since mental health and exercise are both important to me, I usually start my day with a workout! I’m currently training for some 5K’s this summer, and soon a half marathon in February! Running and exercising regularly have honestly helped my mental health exponentially and while, I know my training schedule is not for everyone, some semblance of a routine that you can do pretty much anywhere, especially for a musician who’s schedule is so unpredictable, is key to keeping your mind clear!

After all of that and getting ready, my day could contain any of the following: Blog writing, meetings with the Music on The Move Studios team, meetings with my music team, lessons, practicing, recording content, or a songwriting session!

If it’s a show day, I typically put my “actual” make up on in the evening and use the (very) long time it takes to do my hair (makeup I can knock out in about 10 minutes!) to relax from the day and re-focus for the show!

When all is said and done, I relax with my husband and the Head of HR Wally (who believes it is VERY important to take regular cuddle breaks throughout the day, and will voice his opinion when you do not…) and catch up on whatever show we’re watching (usually something involving Gordon Ramsey…) or watch a movie!

While it’s not always super glamorous, I am very thankful for the life I have and am grateful to the people like you who read our blog, come to our shows, take lessons, and support Music on The Move & independent artists! It’s because of people like you that I get to do what I do.

Stay tuned for another “Day in the Life” with our Music on The Move Studios team!

-Erin
