A Day in The Life with Music on The Move Head of Content Creation & Executive Assistant: Kate Radecke

Oh, hi!

My name is Kate Radecke, and I’m the Executive Assistant & Head of Content Creation for Music on The Move Studios! I am also a singer/songwriter, work full-time with BMI (yes, I’ve probably registered your music at some point), am a freelance copywriter and content consultant, and dog mom to Music on The Move Studio’s Head of Playlists, Benny.

Each day for me is usually dependent upon what my workload is like for the week. This week, I’m pretty preoccupied with a big project at BMI, and taking submissions for this week’s New Music Friday theme: “Songs About America”. Because, you know, it’s already almost the Fourth of July. (I’m just as baffled as you are…time, am I right?)

Thankfully, I have the luxury of working from home, which allows me more time in the morning to practice self-care with a meditation or somatic movement practice. These, in combination with my daily dose of CBD, help keep me calm amidst the chaos that can be life. Working from home also means I get to spend time with the best boy in the world (Benny), and take him on fun adventures when we need a change of scenery.

My average working day could contain any of the following: Data entry or meetings with my team at BMI, content consulting sessions, blog writing, meetings with the Music on The Move Studios team, songwriting, recording or editing content, or placing bids for freelance writing opportunities.

If you saw my video on our socials, you can tell I keep it pretty low key in the hair, makeup, and wardrobe department, but will put more effort in if I have a show or meeting IRL. Makeup is one of my favorite things to play around with but ya girl can be pretty lazy about it, too, especially if I know I won’t be seeing anyone.

At the end of the day, my favorite person to prioritize is Benny, so we’ll spend a couple hours at the dog park. Then I’ll unwind with a movie with family or friends, or write a little just for myself. Songwriting is one of the main ways I process emotions, so it’s a great way to end my day.

(Speaking of writing songs, this week we’re featuring Songs About America on the New Music Friday playlist! If you, or anyone you know, is female/female identifying or a member of the LGBTQ+ community and has songs about the USA, send it my way at the link below!)

Although it may not always be exciting in the average day-to-day, I’m thankful that all of my current jobs include some sort of element of the music industry. Weekly, I get to hear and review music from phenomenal artists I might never have discovered otherwise and help them reach the ears and hearts of others! On the whole, life here with Music on the Move Studios is very rewarding and I’m thrilled to continue to grow and connect with every one of you each week!

-Kate
