Meet The HellCats!

If you’ve ever been to one of our showcases, you’ll notice one of our staples: The All-Female house band, The HellCats!

These incredible musicians not only back every artist that graces our stage but they’re also artists in their own right!

We thought it was time you got to know our HellCats for the March 20th showcase at The Basement East a little better.

But first, how did The HellCats get started?

I am SO glad you asked!

The idea for the HellCats came about during the first showcase. One of my biggest pet peeves during a multi-artist lineup is the set change from one band to another. The energy dies, you never know how long the set change is going to be (rarely is it only 15 minutes,) and there’s always those people who leave before the next act even gets on stage, defeating the purpose of a multi-artist show.

Thus, the house band was born. Since the first showcase happened to be all women (Fun Fact: most of how this showcase came to be came out of necessity & accidents), I thought how cool would it be to keep the theme going with the backing band! Thus, The HellCats were born.

So, let’s meet our incredible backing band!

Lauren Horbal - Drums

Lauren has been with the Music on The Move showcases since it’s first year in 2019. She’s an awesome multi-instrumentalist, songwriter, artist, music-educator, and bandmate! She not only plays for the HellCats but she also has her own band, Fame & Fiction, a punk-rock band based here in Nashville.

Lauren & her bandmate Leah played one of our acoustic showcases back in 2021 at Marathon Music Works!

Meg Williams - Guitar

Meg Williams joined the HellCat fam back in January of 2020 (the one and only in-person show we had in 2020!)

She’s an incredible blues guitarist, songwriter, artist, and now Mama to her sweet son, Riley! She’s toured all across the country playing blues festivals, house concerts, and is a regular at Nashville’s Bourbon Street Blues bar!

Meg has also showcased on our stage as an artist in 2021 when Music on the Move had a residency at City Winery!

Kels Cordarè - Bass

Kels Cordarè is the newest member of The HellCats, joining just last year in 2022! Kels is also a multi-instrumentalist playing bass, cello, violin, guitar, as well as a songwriter and master brewer at Tailgate Brewery!

Along with Lauren Horbal, Kels is also a member of the band Fame & Fiction, as well as a member of the duo EvrGrn with MOTM alum, Kristen Ford!

She can also be seen as one of the “bodyguards” in my music video for “Sunday Crowd” (Fun fact: her wife Moxxie Mars was also in it!)

Hear The HellCats rock out this March at The Basement East on the 20th! Tickets on sale now!
