New Music Friday: When You Feel Both Empty And Heavy

Hey y’all, we’ve got two great new additions to the New Music Friday playlist! This week we’re happy to feature Ambar Cassidy and Ellie Grace Herrold.

Ambar Cassidy’s alt/R&B tune, “i tried” kicks off this week’s playlist! For anyone that struggles with mental health or depression, or loves someone who does, “i tried” is a depression sufferer’s inner monolog set to a soothing backbeat. It perfectly expresses all that you want to say but can’t. Whether you don’t know how to share with others how you’re feeling because you’re overwhelmed and doing all you can to simply function, or you want someone you love to know they’re seen, this is the perfect song to play.

Our other featured song this week is Ellie Grace Herrold’s, “Empty”! According to Herrold, “I wrote this song at 3 AM when I couldn't go to sleep and figured, might as well pour out my thoughts into songwriting and quickly afterwards the song built itself. During production, Trent Hays was able to capture the hazy, introspective, cathartic feeling of the song with his wonderful producing and mastering. With the production of the ambient ending, it’s as if the song ends in a dream as if the mental breakdown is now over, & it’s time to go back to bed.” Whether you’re grieving a failed relationship, or the parts of yourself that no longer feel like you, “Empty” will make you feel seen and held exactly where you are.

Just remember, whether you feel empty or heavy, or somehow both, you’re not alone and nothing lasts forever.

If you have music you’d like featured on the New Music Friday blog and playlist, submit your music to us in the contact section on our site!
