New Music Friday: Featuring Katie Basden, Kayla Woodson, and Sarah Lake

New Music Friday is all about showcasing up and coming female artists and their music. This week we are featuring 3 artist who have greatly impacted Music on The Move Studios. Katie Basden and Kayla Woodson are both Showcase Alumni and Sarah Lake is playing in our upcoming showcase on March 26th. Read below about newest singles!

Burned, Katie Basden

  • Released Today, country singer songwriter, Katie Basden, has opened up a very vulnerable side of her music career with her newest single, “Burned.” Basden’s relaxed country voice is accompanied by a gentle guitar riff as she exclaims, “gravity can be so heavy.” The single is backed by a soft yet powerful drum track that helps to push Basden’s voice to the limit in the bridge of the song, allowing the passion to easily flow out of her voice. Not knowing where her passion should lie, anyone can relate to the feeling of being lost that Basden’s has expressed so perfectly in the infant song. Katie Basden is one of the first performers to play in our Music on The Move Showcase. Now celebrating 5 years of the showcase, Basden is still wowing us with what she can do with her musical gifts.

Situationship, Kayla Woodson

  • Drawing inspiration from the famous Carrie Underwood song, “Before He Cheats,” “Situationship” by Kayla Woodson is the next best country rock song. Released in February of 2024, Woodson felt all of her feelings out on the table while exclaiming “I think I’m worth a little more than non-committal.” The powerful electric guitar drives the story of Woodson’s love life. The listeners get a personal view of how this secretive man is not ready for a relationship but wants to be more than friends, thus creating the dreaded, “Situationship.” Woodson is also another Music on The Move Showcase alumni. Playing in 2021, we have never forgotten how powerful her voice can get.

Soul Shaker, Sarah Lake

  • Current Music on The Move Showcase Performer, Sarah Lake, has released yet another perfectly produced country masterpiece. The toe tapper single, “Soul Shaker,” expresses exactly how it feels to be in love. Sprinkled with melodic harmonies, a guitar solo, and small banjo riffs this new country love song will get anyone dancing. Catch Sarah Lake’s performance on March 26th for the Music on The Move Showcase at 3rd & Lindsley.
